Recently, at the plenary session of Study Group 4 of the Radio Bureau of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-R SG4), the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) led by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) officially adopted the international standard "Vision, Requirements and Assessment Methods for 5G Satellite Radio Interface".

This marks a significant achievement in China's international standardization of 5G satellite communications. Based on this, the ITU issued a circular to solicit candidates for 5G satellite technologies. According to the current work plan, a proposal for 5G satellite technology standards and specifications will be released in the first half of 2025.

It is understood that China Academy of Information and Communication Technology has been actively leading the satellite wireless airport standard project in ITU-R SG4 WP4B (Working Group II) since 2020 to promote the international standardization of 5G communications in China. In February 2021, the manuscript of 5G satellite radio interface standard working plan was input at the WP4B # 48 conference, which attracted the attention of many countries and enterprises in the world, and opened a new round of 5G satellite technology research work. Through active communication and coordination with the Chairman of SG4, the Chairman of WP4B, and representatives from France, Russia and other countries, we received extensive support from the participants.
